Organization description

Public school district in Northern New Mexico, primarily within the boundaries of Picuris Pueblo

Project description

Engage students, families, and community members in Library of Congress materials, especially photographs of the area taken by Russell Lee and John Collier in the early 1940s. Create narratives around those photographs and materials and, in the case of Picuris Pueblo, fill the lack of materials in the Library from this same time. Engage students in a variety of primary sources, including but not limited to the following: previously recorded interviews with community members, photographs and documents held in private and other museum collections, presentations by experts in traditional forms of life depicted in LoC archives.
