Organization description

The Music of US team at Snow&Co brings together Social Studies and Music teachers, music writers, learning-game designers, and primary-source experts, and software engineers, working together to create engaging digital explorations of History and Civics through musical primary sources.

Project description

Music of US is a new, free online resource for secondary school teachers and students to explore History and Civics  through musical primary sources from the Library of Congress.

Music of US includes a growing series of interactive Episodes where students can explore important music and musicians that have contributed to our history and culture.

In each Episode, students will interactively explore a recording; why and how it was created, the musicians, social context, and what they tell us about our history as a nation.

We’re also creating a cloud Builder App, where students can create their own Episodes with music they have created or chosen, showing connections between that music and their lives and communities.

All Music of US resources can be accessed at https://www.musicofus.org
