Organization description

Founded in 2001, The Mississippi School of the Arts (MSA) is a residential high school for eleventh and twelfth grade students specializing in intensive arts training in dance, literary art, media arts, theatre, visual art, and vocal music. The MSA vision is a diverse, creative environment that trains and nurtures young Mississippi artists to transform their community and the world. The mission of MSA is to develop the next generation of artists by providing an innovative education in a residential environment for talented and creative Mississippi students. MSA is accredited by Cognia and has 100% graduation rate (number one in the state of Mississippi annually). Located in Brookhaven, sixty miles south of Jackson, MSA is one of only a few arts agencies in the southwest MS region. Students at MSA are selected through audition from across the state of MS. On average, more than 50 counties are represented in the population of the school. MSA’s major source of funding is allocated by the state of Mississippi through the Mississippi Department of Education. MSA is nationally recognized as an Exemplary Arts School by the Arts School Network and all programs are regionally, nationally, or internationally recognized.
