Organization description

Maryland Humanities is an education nonprofit that creates and supports educational experiences in the humanities that inspire all Marylanders to embrace lifelong learning, exchange ideas openly, and enrich their communities.

Project description
The Thinkport Inquiry Kits are primary and secondary source sets that can kickstart student research or inspire teachers' lesson planning. The 200 kits align with curriculum standards in US history, world history, US government, and elementary social studies. The site also includes 12 self-paced, interactive research learning modules. The modules support students through each step of creating a research project, from analyzing primary sources to writing a thesis. Since their creation, the Thinkport Inquiry Kits have been used as a support for students doing research projects for Maryland History Day and National History Day. This year, we hope to extend our reach and make sure Maryland History Day is accessible to English learners as well. We will be developing a Maryland History Day for English Learners Curriculum to scaffold the process for those students.
