Organization description

Inquiry Schools was founded in 2013 with a mission to help schools both grow and transform in an inquiry-driven, project-based, technology enabled educational environment. Across more than a decade, we have worked with 30 districts in 18 different states and 3 countries impacting more than 1,500 teachers and 60,000 students. Looking to the systems and structures that provide the foundation for teaching and learning in our schools, we are committed to learning the nuances of each school and applying our considerable toolbox to the challenges. We are tenacious in pursuit of the goals each school community aims to achieve.

Project description

Inquiry Schools is thrilled to receive support for their professional development project titled Building Literacy Through Inquiry: A Social Studies Approach for K-5 Classrooms. Focused on the K-5 teachers in the CESA #4 region of Wisconsin, we look to build community and curriculum throughout the 2025-2026 school year. Our project strategically leverages existing topics and content within the Early Literacy Curriculum as a foundation for developing inquiry-based lessons that incorporate primary sources. By connecting social studies skills and Library of Congress resources to an already established curricular focus, we aim to provide teachers with a more accessible pathway to integrate these lessons into their instruction. Over four virtual sessions, each of our 25 teachers will create 1-2 primary source, inquiry driven lessons connected to their school’s Early Literacy Curriculum.
