In one place, visitors experience the collective histories of 39 distinctive First American Nations in Oklahoma today. The 175,000 square foot museum, located in Oklahoma City’s new Horizons District, showcases state-of-the-art exhibitions in First American history, community events and educational programs, a restaurant and café offering unique Indigenous-inspired cuisine, a multi-purpose theater and a museum store featuring exclusive items created by premiere First American artists.

Project description

Designed for high school students, OKLA HOMMA Online is a virtual adaptation of First American Museum’s exhibition OKLA HOMMA. This self-contained experience for use on tablet or laptop includes digital media, interactive elements, and linked Google Doc activities for students to complete. It is ideal for classrooms in Oklahoma History, US History, Government, and Native American Studies.

OKLA HOMMA Online addresses the collective arts, histories, and cultures of the 39 tribal nations in Oklahoma from origins to the present day.  Students consider narratives from First American perspectives and are prompted examine First American works of art, primary sources, and oral traditions.
