Organization description

The CHSSP is a statewide network of scholars, educators, and educational professionals committed to high-quality history instruction. CHSSP sites are located in departments of history and education at universities across the state. Scholars and K-12 teachers, current and former, collaborate to lead engaging professional development programs for the teachers in their region.

Project description

Using the digital collection of primary sources from the Library of Congress as the basis of a series of presentations, the CHSSP offers a customized course of study for K-12 educators designed to enrich classroom instruction through the expanded use of primary sources, improved student understanding of the process of historical investigation, and enhanced student reading comprehension and writing ability. TPS-UC Davis professional development is free of charge throughout California.
